Exercise 1

[op_liveeditor_element data-style=””]

  • Create Your 4 Quarterly Review Files

It’s time to create your quarterly review files for the next 4 quarters. Last week you were given access to the full Kaizen Success System worksheets with the 90 day goals tab at the beginning. You were also given access to the action plan templates as asked to fill this out for each of your 90 day goals.

This quarterly review template is what you will use to analyse how you feel you went with achieving your goals and any lessons you learnt over the last 90 days.

To begin with make a copy of the template file and create a new quarterly review in each of the next 4 quarters so it’s ready for your analysis at the end of each quarter. Be sure to name them something like Q1 2017 Review, Q2 2017 Review etc.

When the time comes for you to come back to do the quarterly review make sure you fill in the Kaizen Quarter score in the top left hand corner. Remember all you need to do is look at your the last 90 day goals sheet that has the average of the last 13 weeks scores on it. Just fill that in here and hopefully you manage to hit the 80% or at least get close.

Next thing is select how many of the 13 weekly challenges you were able to complete successfully. Keep in mind if you hit 10 or more you are doing an exceptional job and you most definitely should be rewarding yourself in some way. Also complete your learnings from the weekly challenges which should be something you are documenting on a week by week basis. This is the place to summarise what the last 13 weekly challenges taught you.

Now the 90 day goals can just be copied across from your 90 day goal worksheet. In the drop down select whether or not you completed each of them and leave notes in the right hand column to elaborate on why you did not complete the goal. If you did succeed in achieving the goal then why you feel you did well and what lead to the completion of the goal. Lastly you could make notes on how you could have further improved and what each of the outcomes of the goals taught you.

Finally at the bottom of the quarterly review is a section for you to essentially journal about how you felt your overall performance has been in the last 90 days. Were you satisfied with what you accomplished, make any observations of what you feel went well and didn’t and any lessons you feel you learnt during this time.

Exercise 2

[op_liveeditor_element data-style=””]

  • Your First Weekly Review

This is a time to start creating a powerful new habit that you perform on a weekly basis by carrying out your weekly review at the end of each week. You should start by identifying when you typically start your week and from there assign a time block to working on this.

Lets use the scenario used in the video of the week ending on Sunday and commencing on Monday. This would mean every Sunday evening you allocate roughly 30 minutes to run through your weekly review.

The weekly review means you have enough items to analyse but it’s not too far out that you have forgotten what you did well and not so well. Plus you will ideally have most of this stuff documented on your Kaizen Success System worksheet.

Once you have the time slot allocated then it’s time to open the weekly review checklist document from the resources section above and run through all the points on there. Basically you start by analysing you results from the past week, making notes of what you did and didn’t do well and then planning your next week out.

Try and follow this process for a few weeks until it becomes a natural habit. This is so important to your overall success as you can see on a daily and weekly basis what you are doing well and where you could improve. The result will be week on week you following the Kaizen way of small and continuous improvement moving you towards your goals.

This weekly review checklist is a great Segway into something you can use with your accountability partner which is something we will be taking you through in the next video.

Exercise 3

[op_liveeditor_element data-style=””]

  • Find an Accountability Partner

As mentioned in the video this single exercise could be the key difference in whether or not you succeed in achieving all your goals and living your ultimate life vision.

You now understand why having an accountability partner is so important so it’s time to find someone you can work with.

How to find the right one?

Find someone who is equally as excited and motivated to hit their goals as you are to hit yours. Someone who is committed to your success and theirs.

When looking for one consider their core values and if they are in line with yours as this will form the basis of a good relationship.

Choose someone who is a go-getter, you will find that you start holding yourself to a new standard.

Choose someone who will be brutally honest with you. You should not be looking for someone who will rescue, fix or save you, you need someone to hold you accountable.

    The 16 Personalities?

Make sure you have completed the 16 personality types test and also ask anyone who you think could be a good fit as your accountability partner to do the test as well.

It’s important to know your strengths and weaknesses when entering into a partnership, you want someone who has the qualities that you lack.

A partnership means you’ll be giving back. Identify your strengths that might be helpful to your partner, and make sure you’re willing to provide constructive feedback even when it’s uncomfortable to share.

    Motivation Style?

Also understanding how your accountability partner is motivated. Are they motivated towards the pleasure of succeeding or away from the pain of failing?

It’s your job to hold them accountable but also to try and motivate them to achieve their goals so this is really important. Have this discussion early on and share what most motivates you so they can return the favour.

    Be clear about your expectations.

Understand that whether or not you take your partners advice that each person must be 100% responsible for their actions and choices.

Agree on consequences. So if commitments go un-completed consider a financial consequence or even just the process of verbally admitting it is often enough to motivate you to not let it happen again

How often are you in contact?

Once per week for the weekly review. This means enough time has passed to see what you have achieved but not too long that you forgot why you did and didn’t achieve things.

Accountability partner relationships work best and last the longest when the calls are short and focused.

    The Process

Once all this is agreed on you should work through your weekly review with your accountability partners. We went over this in a previous video but it’s a great series of questions to go through each week.

Do your weekly review so you can access where you’re up to, look at what you did well and didn’t do so well and put your plan in place. Then jump on the call with your accountability partner so it’s all fresh and they do the same. This allows for things to run smoothly and quickly and it’s a simple step by step system you can follow on each call.
